For Parents
Your child may be learning a modern foreign language at school through the kOUIvna programme.
Classroom learning is at the heart of kOUIvna. Pupils learn together through short, structured lessons with their teacher, using speaking, listening, games, songs and activities to build confidence and develop their language over time.
For families who would like their child to have additional opportunities to revisit this learning at home, kOUIvna Practice is available separately.
What is
kOUIvna Practice?
kOUIvna Practice gives children a simple way to revisit at home the language they are learning in class.
Practice is designed to be short and regular, rather than another long homework task. Children work through familiar language in manageable sessions, with content linked directly to their classroom learning.
Each child progresses at their own pace. Language that needs more practice comes back again, while learning that is becoming secure is revisited over time.
- Short, manageable practice sessions
- Content linked directly to classroom learning
- Individual progression at the child’s own pace
- Regular revisiting of previously learned language
- Simple, age-appropriate self-assessment
Helping learning stick
Learning a language takes repeated exposure over time. Short, regular encounters with words and expressions can help children remember what they have learned and become more confident recognising and using the language.
kOUIvna Practice supports this process by bringing classroom language back at appropriate intervals. It is designed to complement what happens at school rather than introduce a separate course for children to follow at home.
Children also use simple visual indicators to reflect on their learning and recognise what is new, what they are still learning and what is becoming secure.
Ready to use
kOUIvna Practice is supplied on a preconfigured kOUIvna device, prepared and ready for your child to use.
There is no app to install and no pupil account or login to create. Regular language practice works offline, so an internet connection is not required for everyday use.
When Wi-Fi is available, selected online activities linked to the programme may also be accessed through the device.
Completely optional
kOUIvna Practice is an optional addition to the classroom programme. Children do not need a device in order to participate fully in kOUIvna lessons at school.
Families who would like additional individual practice at home can choose to purchase a preconfigured kOUIvna device separately.
Classroom learning comes first. kOUIvna Practice provides an optional way for children to revisit and reinforce that learning at home.
